My number one tip for cleaning out your wardrobe

Hello, It’s me! I had been a little behind on my blog lately but I’m back with lots of new ideas and content to share with ya! So, today is all about cleaning out that wardrobe and letting go of those jeans you’ve probably had since being 18 years old. Little exaggeration? uh no, you’d be surprised how many of us keep useless items of clothing for so many years. Being a fashion blogger with no actual ‘personal style’ means my wardrobe can get a little out of hand sometimes, my rail was ready to collapse last week but my dad came to save the day just in time. I have no more room on my rail whatsoever, so a lot of my clothes get put in a spare room now which my dad is NOT happy about. He’s always confused to why I have so many clothes and why I cling on to things I never actually wear no more. I’ve always been emotionally attached to clothes, is that weird? probably. I find it so hard to get rid of clothes when they have made amazing memories with me, been to places with me, made me look sassy when going through breakups, helped me experiment with style and most important of all, covered up my naked body. Its kind of like a baby’s blanket.

“What is your personal style?”

FASHION

32219181733What is your personal style? A question I get asked a lot in interviews and a question I can never fully answer. When I think about this question, something comes to mind that I don’t actually have a personal style and to be honest I’ve never had one. Ever since I got into fashion I never wanted to dress the exact same as someone else, I never had a fixed style. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always had my style icons, Debbie Harry, Anna Karina, Alexa Chung etc.. but they’re just celebs that I look to for outfit inspo if I’m feeling uninspired. I would pick parts of Debbie Harry’s style but then I would also pick parts of somebody elses style and then put my own twist on it. I still do that today, but now I’m dressing more for me, rather than dressing to just look ‘cool’ or ‘ vintage’. I dress in clothes that flatter my figure and that make me look like the best ME. I know what doesn’t look good on me and what does, I think that’s the most important thing when it come to fashion. I’m a teeny 5’2 and a half (haha I had to add that half in) which means I know to wear skirts and dresses that come above the knee to elongate my legs. I can’t wear those dreamy bohemian maxi dresses because I literally look like I’m wearing a potato sack that is trailing along the floor collecting up dust. I don’t do too well with some cropped jeans because I feel they cut my legs off even more. However kick flares are a god send!! and booties above the ankle are an absolute no go for me! #cankle probs.

Hello you! how are ya? I’ve been working on something with Accessorize and I’m so excited to let you in on what I’ve got up to. So last week the lovely team at Accessorize invited me into their new refurbished shop in the Manchester Arndale to view their also brand new collection ‘Eclectic Bloom’. The shop actually reminds me of one of those stores that you find abroad that sells all the beautiful jewellery and scarves, it has a lovely layout of perfectly stored pieces and the perfect lighting.

Hello alllll, hope you’re well. I’m currently hiding away in my favourite cafe (probs not the best place to hide haha) writing up some blog posts for you. I’m having one of them days where any socialising, communicating and talking is a no from me. I’ve got my builders brew, the tunes are on and I’m all by myself and pretty content about it, all I need now is a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign and my cat . January has been so cold and there’s no sign of warmer weather anytime soon. To be honest, all I can think about is that chicken broth waiting for me at home mmmm!

Elllooooo, I can’t believe its Christmas next week arhhhhhh! It goes by so quick. Before we know it, it will be festival season again! *impatiently waits* Don’t get me wrong I love the whole festive spirit malarkey, Christmas markets, and all cosy fairy lights but I feel like I should try to appreciate this time of the year more. A lot of our family don’t get in contact as much since my Mum and Nanna passed, they were the only women who kept the family together!! Christmas to me just seems like another day in the life of Starr Clare and just another (but tastier) Sunday dinner with my Dad, Brother and Sister. Christmas is about spending time with all our loved ones and celebrating so I think maybe next year I need to step up my game and invite the whole Clare clan round to my house!

Hey hey hey, In the festive spirit yet? It’s bloody freezing outside and to be honest I’m not happy about it, bah humbug! I am however, happy I get to eat a chocolate from my advent calendar for breakfast every morning (nothing new lol lol). Winter means big coats! and big coats I love. I know that it can be annoying when we are wearing a cute lil outfit and then we have to go and cover it up with a mahooosive winter coat ughhhh BUT it’s not the end of the world ladies and gents because when your coat is sass af, you can let it do all the talking…

Embroidered Dreams

Lets be honest, embroidery has been around for a while and it was pretty popular in the 70’s and 80’s when girls would wear embroidery on their denim jeans/jacket and the mods and rockers would spice up their leather and parkas with embroidery patches. Early 2015 we saw embroidery back on the catwalk looking better than ever. From long floral boho dresses to bomber jackets covered in dreamy stitching. Many designers such as Chloe, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen hopped on the embroidery trend and now its seen everywhere! Not just on runway models but celebrities, fashion bloggers and everyday people are rockin’ this look.

Autumn Colour Palettes

Hey! Hope October is treating you well. I’m definitely feeling the cold here in Huddersfield, I’ve already got the sheepskin and scarf out. My favourite thing about Autumn (AFTER HALLOWEEN OF COURSE!) is the colour palette it brings. The rusty oranges, golden yellows and brick browns give our layered outfits that dreamy Autumn feel.

photo-14-10-2016-17-03-31photo-14-10-2016-17-01-23photo-14-10-2016-17-01-52

For this outfit I decided to stick with the orange and brown tones, wearing a burnt orange suede pinny with a cream polka blouse underneath to separate the oranges because we all know the full on dorito wouldn’t be a good look. The CAT boots I featured in a previous post, these babies haven’t been off my feet! They are so so comfy and literally go with anything! I’ve been slipping them on with jeans, mini and midi dresses/skirts and even with culottes.

Hat – Vintage | Coat – H&M | Dress – Primark | Bag – Vintage | Blouse – The Magpies Den Boutique | Boots –  CAT Footwear

The bag I managed to grab off Depop as soon as I lay my eyes on it. I fell in love with that rusty orange and mock croc combo so I couldn’t resist. I didn’t realise how big the bag actually was until the postman delivered it. I was expecting a standard size shoulder bag but oh no. Or maybe
the bag isn’t so big but I make it look huge by being so tiny! who knows? Anyhow, it will be a handy bag for when it comes to taking books to uni.

To finish off the look I threw on my leopard coat which is always a favourite every year for autumn/winter and my trusty baker boy hat for those windy bad hair days.

Jacket – Vintage | Jeans – Mango | Top – Handmade by me. Fabric from http://www.abakhan.co.uk/ | Boots – Topshop (similar here) | Bolo Tie – Mobs and Monsters

Good morning and happy Wednesday! It’s been a little bit hectic lately with moving to uni and all that malarkey but I had a little free time this morning so I thought I would spend it writing on my blog for you lot.

This is a shoot I did last week with one of my favourite people to work with, Akash! Share some love and go check out his work. Ok, so I went for a Western vibe outfit because I wanted to show off this amazing vintage denim tassel jacket I purchased a few weeks ago. How amazeeeeeeeeee is it?! I feel like I should be in one of those old school cowboy films… just waiting for my cowboy boyfriend to come along and pick me up and whisk me away through the desert on his horse whilst chewing a piece of straw… ha! keep dreaming Starr. This jacket would work great for festival wear or for chilli nights out on the town. It’s the BEST jacket to dance in because the tassels move with your body and make prancing around a whole lotttttaaaa fun! To update the outfit and give it a modern touch I paired it with my fave velvet leopard boots and a little hand made top by me! Because star print and denim? We can’t go wrong there. To complete the look I wore my bolo tie (which I only just found out that you are suppose to wear it with a shirt like a tie! hence the name, durrrrrrr!) to stick with the western vibes.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post, i’m off to find me a cowboy lover!
