Take time yourself

FASHION, LIFESTYLE

A few days ago I had a bit of a crazy moment. I shut down my laptop, turned off my phone and cried. I couldn’t even watch the TV! Social media had got too much for me and on top of everything else it really took it’s toll on my anxiety. I had forgotten the last time I had took some time out for myself to just go for a walk or read a book, I was constantly on my phone replying to emails, catching up on Instagram, over working on my laptop as well as trying to reply to every single message right away. Now that’s not healthy. I began to miss deadlines for collaborations and for us bloggers this means missing out on money and having to explain yourself too, ANOTHER thing I had to worry about. I was getting very little sleep because I would stay up working until the early hours and then because I was looking at blue light for so long my brain was tricked into thinking it was day time. I would then put something on Netflix until I eventually would fall asleep to waking up feeling like I had been on a 5 day bender in Ibiza!! (maybe a little exaggeration but I sure felt that way haha)

My number one tip for cleaning out your wardrobe

Hello, It’s me! I had been a little behind on my blog lately but I’m back with lots of new ideas and content to share with ya! So, today is all about cleaning out that wardrobe and letting go of those jeans you’ve probably had since being 18 years old. Little exaggeration? uh no, you’d be surprised how many of us keep useless items of clothing for so many years. Being a fashion blogger with no actual ‘personal style’ means my wardrobe can get a little out of hand sometimes, my rail was ready to collapse last week but my dad came to save the day just in time. I have no more room on my rail whatsoever, so a lot of my clothes get put in a spare room now which my dad is NOT happy about. He’s always confused to why I have so many clothes and why I cling on to things I never actually wear no more. I’ve always been emotionally attached to clothes, is that weird? probably. I find it so hard to get rid of clothes when they have made amazing memories with me, been to places with me, made me look sassy when going through breakups, helped me experiment with style and most important of all, covered up my naked body. Its kind of like a baby’s blanket.

Hey hey hey, In the festive spirit yet? It’s bloody freezing outside and to be honest I’m not happy about it, bah humbug! I am however, happy I get to eat a chocolate from my advent calendar for breakfast every morning (nothing new lol lol). Winter means big coats! and big coats I love. I know that it can be annoying when we are wearing a cute lil outfit and then we have to go and cover it up with a mahooosive winter coat ughhhh BUT it’s not the end of the world ladies and gents because when your coat is sass af, you can let it do all the talking…

Autumn Colour Palettes

Hey! Hope October is treating you well. I’m definitely feeling the cold here in Huddersfield, I’ve already got the sheepskin and scarf out. My favourite thing about Autumn (AFTER HALLOWEEN OF COURSE!) is the colour palette it brings. The rusty oranges, golden yellows and brick browns give our layered outfits that dreamy Autumn feel.

For this outfit I decided to stick with the orange and brown tones, wearing a burnt orange suede pinny with a cream polka blouse underneath to separate the oranges because we all know the full on dorito wouldn’t be a good look. The CAT boots I featured in a previous post, these babies haven’t been off my feet! They are so so comfy and literally go with anything! I’ve been slipping them on with jeans, mini and midi dresses/skirts and even with culottes.

The bag I managed to grab off Depop as soon as I lay my eyes on it. I fell in love with that rusty orange and mock croc combo so I couldn’t resist. I didn’t realise how big the bag actually was until the postman delivered it. I was expecting a standard size shoulder bag but oh no. Or maybe
the bag isn’t so big but I make it look huge by being so tiny! who knows? Anyhow, it will be a handy bag for when it comes to taking books to uni.

To finish off the look I threw on my leopard coat which is always a favourite every year for autumn/winter and my trusty baker boy hat for those windy bad hair days.

Good morning! Today i’m sharing some pictures with you from last month taken by the verrrrrry talented Joe Rigby, you can see some of his work at www.josephrigbyphotography.co.uk  I’m love love loving these shots! However, I do wish I ironed my dress before leaving the house oops. Anyway, speaking of the dress! This is another gem of a dress that I don’t wear enough purely because i’m scared of ruining it and when ya a bit clumsy like me and known for spilling things on yourself then i’m guessing you understand my anxiety here. I found this dress on Depop after searching for hours, again. The dress stood out to me right away and funnily enough the owner of the dress (who had bought the dress off someone else) was a girl who I’ve had on Instagram for a while! So if you’re reading this Ruby, i’m thanking you again for this lil dreamy dress (still don’t know why you wanted to sell it haha) God knows how many times the dress has been passed down and how long its been around for but I like to think it was originally made in the 60’s. The dress is beautifully hand made and has this cute daisy chain detail around the neck. I also love how it zips up at the front rather than having the usual buttons or zip at the back. The dress fits my petite frame perfectly and has a stand up collar! a favourite of mine, so I definitely think this was a match made in heaven! It’s hard when looking for the perfect dress and it’s definitely not going to suddenly appear after looking through Ebay for 10 minutes, unless yer a lucky bugger! It takes a lot of time looking through every rail of vinatge/charity shops and spending a lot of time online, on places such as Etsy and Depop but once you find the perfect dress you’ll know it’s meant to be.

GET SUMMER READY

IMG_1822IMG_1830IMG_1848IMG_1837IMG_1825

Hey sunshine babies! I thought I would do a summery post to relate to the Manchester weather, how lovely has the past few days been!? Sadly, it never lasts so enjoy it while it’s still here. Firstly I want to thank Hayley Sellers for being amazing and taking these beautiful photos. You can find her instagram here go go go!

I have to say this is my favourite outfit for The White Pepper, I love the summer vibes it has with the bright colours and the quirky lil briefcase. The briefcase has been in the family for years and it was finally passed down to me a few years ago. I use it every summer for my travels but mainly to carry the 5 pairs of shoes that I never actually end up wearing!

The White Pepper knit I just luuurrrrrrrv!  It’s a thin knit in a T-shirt style so it’s suitable to wear for the spring but also takes you through to the summer (if your someone who is a mard and is always cold like me) It’s a really vibrant pink colour with a cute little rainbow on the front which makes it even more adorable! because who doesn’t like rainbows? I paired the knit with a denim button down A-line, a skirt that literally goes with mostly everything but you could also wear it with some cropped denim kick flares or cut off shorts. Denim is always a must have during spring/summer and it goes nicely paired with lighter shades. To finish the look I wore white jelly shoes which take me back to the 90’s every time I wear them and a pair of love heart sunglasses to add that extra bit of summer lovin’

Hope you enjoyed outfit number 2! See you on the next post for outfit number 3
